Acol Bidding

Your Plan

Dummy goes down and you count your losers: Spades=0; Hearts=1; Diamonds=0 and Clubs=1: you should make 11 tricks.

The Play

A spade lead, win with the AS, lead the 9H planning to cover whatever card east plays, cover the KH, play a second round of trumps to clear them from oppositions hands. A low diamond up to AD play KS and now play lowest spade and ruff in hand. Play the KD and then ruff a low diamond on the table. Ruff a low spade in hand, play AC and then QC. Ruff which ever suits are returned to you.

Comment

Ruffing turns an 11 trick hand into a 12 trick hand!

NOTE: The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand. Beginners should also make extensive use of the 'Hint' button. The hints are computer generated and quite conservative, but are often useful if you are looking for a good suggestion.
