Acol Bidding

Your Plan

Count your losers in a trump contract, 0 in spades, 1 in hearts, 2 in diamonds and 1 in clubs. To maximise your chances you want to lose your certain loser the AC, and possible loser the KH before you lose control of the diamond suit, in which case you can throw losing diamonds and on the spades, hearts and clubs and ruff any leads of diamonds at the end of the game.

The Play

Win the AH on the heart lead and draw3 rounds of trumps, lead a low club and lose to AC, win the club return and lead out your top heart, when the KH wins you now can stop any diamond return with AD if needed. However play your high clubs and hearts discarding diamonds so that you can ruff the last low diamonds on the table.

Comment

In 3NT and 4S you can make 11 tricks, but in 4S is a much safer contract.

NOTE: The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand. Beginners should also make extensive use of the 'Hint' button. The hints are computer generated and quite conservative, but are often useful if you are looking for a good suggestion.
