Acol Bidding

Open 4H showing your weak hand and 8 card heart fit in your own hand. All Pass

Your Plan

Count your losers in a suit contract. Spades=0; Hearts=0; Diamonds=2; Clubs=1. This contract should make. Draw trumps and win the 2 spade tricks.

The Play

Lose the club lead and the 2 diamond returns. Win the spade switch in dummy, draw trumps playing the heart honor in the short suit first. Ruff a spade or club to return to your hand and the rest of the tricks are yours.

Comment

Making 10 tricks. With 21 points between you and North you make 4H. The very long hearts have power which make a strong hand

NOTE: The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand. Beginners should also make extensive use of the 'Hint' button. The hints are computer generated and quite conservative, but are often useful if you are looking for a good suggestion.
