Bidding

Partner opens their best minor - you bid 1H - partner raises your heart suit one level showing their minimum hand 13-15 points and at least 4 heart cards. With 10 HCP and no suit shortages to provide extra values - All Pass.

Acol Bidding

Partner opens 1NT. All Pass.

Plan Before You Play

Standard American: Dummy goes down and you count your losers, 2 in Spades 0 in hearts, 3 in Diamonds and 1 in clubs, giving you 7 tricks after drawing trumps you will need to create another winner at this stage clubs or spades look to be the best suits to work on.



Acol: Dummy goes down count your winning tricksSpades:1, Hearts:3, Diamonds:0, Clubs:1. You need to develop 2 more tricks to make your contract.

The Play

Standard American: Win lead with JC, draw 3 rounds of trumps, play QC on AC and ruff the 10C, lead a low spade which east wins with KS, lose 2 diamond tricks, win the last 3 spade tricks and ruff the last diamond. Gives 10 tricks.



Acol: Lose the first 3 diamond tricks and win the club return with JC play 4 heart tricks, lead out 10C and play QC, a low spade up to QS which east wins and returns another club, QS and AS are high, gives you 9 tricks

2H - gives 10 tricks.
1NT gives 9 tricks
