Plan Before You Play

In NoTrumps count your winners . Two in spades 2 in hearts 3 in diamonds and 3 in clubs. Hopefully your 4th club and another 3 heart tricks will eventuate.

The Play

Win the diamond lead - and lead out QH from declarer's hand towards the AH JH hoping that east has the KH. East plays the KH and you cover with the AH. Play the JH and then the 10H noticing that the have folowed suit for each round of hearts therefore the 6H is high, because you counted them as they were played. Play 6H. Play the 2 high clubs and notice that the JC is still out so your 9C is not a winning card. Play your last 2 winning diamonds in hand and then use your spades to cross to the table, play the AS and KS dropping the QS and JS in the meantime so the 10S becomes you thirteenth winning card

Comment

Counting each suit as you play allows you to make thirteen tricks for 1470 points

The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
