Bidding

You pass, west passes, partner opens 1C. You have less than 6 points so All Pass despite your 4 card club suit

Acol Bidding

You pass, west passes, partner opens 1C. You have less than 6 points so All Pass despite your 4 card club suit

Plan Before You Play

Your hand goes down - you are in a suit contract count your winners. None in clubs, 2 in spades, 1 in hearts and 1 maybe 2 in diamonds. The contract appears safe. Plan to draw trumps and try to develop extra winners in hearts and spades and a diamond ruff.

The Play

Use the rule of 11 to see if east may be underleading the KH. Hmm looks like he is so lets play the JH. Draw trumps. Finesse west for the AD -win the heart return lead out the KD. Enter dummy with AS and ruff the last diamond - lead a low spade - then ruff a diamond return - lead a low heart from table and duck then - win the last heart return.

Comment

If you are tempted to bid 2C with your 4 card club suit and with only 5 points partner will bid 3NT and then you have lots of problems. Try it and see

The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
