You pass, west opens 1C your partner overcalls 1H, east makes a negative double 'X' you pass. After the opposition bids 2C be quiet as you have no support for partner's hearts but heaps of the opponent's club suit, they may save into another suit if you penalty double.
Acol Bidding
You pass, west opens 1C your partner overcalls 1H, east makes a negative double 'X' you pass. After the opposition bids 2C be quiet as you have no support for partner's hearts but heaps of the opponent's club suit, they may save into another suit if you penalty double.
Plan Before You Play
You and your partner must win at least six tricks to take the opposition light.
The Play
Partner leads AH, discard a low spade, partner leads a low heart for you to trump. Lead a low spade which partner wins and sends back another heart for you to ruff. Lead another spade. At every opportunity lead a low spade, waiting for declarer to lead diamonds. Making seven tricks.
Comment
If you make a penalty double of the opponent's 2C they will save into diamonds, a much better place for them.
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
