Bidding

East and you pass - West opens 1D and your partner overcalls spades. Revalue your hand using distribution points with suit shortages and your hand is now worth 14 points. Bid 4S. All pass.

Plan Before You Play

Your hand becomes dummy and your partners hand goes down for only you to see counting your losers you will lose to the AD and AH.

The Play

East leads a diamond which you lose and then thankfully west leads back another diamond. Ruff the second diamond and draw 2 rounds of trumps ending up in your hand. The JD and then the 9D are high so play them now discarding QH and 2H Now you can cross ruff the hearts and the clubs, playing the AC to win notice the AH is discarded by west so now your KH is high.

Comment

Your triple jump bid to game is a shutout and partner should have stop there, and he did. Making 12 tricks.

The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
