The opposition open 1S, with 11 HCP and your five card heart suit overcall 2H. Partner invites with a 3H bid, this supporting bid means they have a maximum of 9 TP's so not enough to bid game so you pass. When the opposition bid 3S here's where the competitor in you steps in bid 4H (or pass if you are a rules person). All Pass.
Acol Bidding
The opposition open 1S, with 11 HCP and your five card heart suit overcall 2H. Partner invites with a 3H bid, this supporting bid means they have a maximum of 9 TP's so not enough to bid game so you pass. All Pass. People playing Standard American compete to 4H. Compare the systems.
Plan Before You Play
In a suit contract count your losing tricks . One spade, no heart losers, 1 diamond and 1 club loser.
The Play
Win the spade lead, draw trumps counting the them as the opposition play them so that you know when to stop playing trumps. Play a low diamond from dummy which loses to the AD. The spade switch by the opponents allows you to ruff the spade and discard the 8C now run your your established diamonds.
Comment
You can make 11 tricks (game) in Acol and Standard American but your partner may get cross with you if you always bid game with under strength hands
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
