The opposition bid 1D and 1S and they are vulnerable, you should not bid anything even with 15 HCP and 5 heart cards. You take a big risk if you overcall hearts...... best to say nothing your bid is 'Pass'. The opposition bid on to 3D and you think WOW I'm going to win some tricks here lets double them for penalties and score big points! Double "X" for penalties - everyone passes.

Plan Before You Play
Count your winners. If all players have at least 2 of each suit you have 4 winners in your own hand, hopefully partner will also contribute a trick or 2.... doubled and light Win all your high cards in the side suits and hopefully watch partner to get some cross ruffing.
The Play
Partner leads a heart. Take the AH and KH feed him another heart for him to ruff. Partner then wins the AC and KC allowing you to ruff his third club lead. Lead back trumps. The rest of the tricks are declarers, but you have them 2 light doubled and vulnerable. 500 points
Comment
Its not smart of declarer to give you a second club ruff, really you should only take the other side 2 light doubled and vulnerable.
Bridge is all about points scored compared to others....taking the opposition light in this situation delivers many more points than if you were in the 4S game in which you can make 11 tricks if only you could bid it. (redeal the hand and try just bidding 4S!)
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
