Bidding

East and you both pass, west opens the bidding and partner makes a takeout double . you need to jump the bidding to 3H when responding to partner's takeout double to show more than 8 HCP and a good suit. Partner bids game in hearts.

Plan Before You Play

Count your losers - AH, KD and AS seem to be your probable losers. so draw trumps and cross ruff the side suits with a finesses of the QC to be with west.

The Play

Win the second round of spades in hand and lead a low trump to dummy, win the diamond return and a second round of trumps. If you have counted you will know that all trumps are out now so start on your club suit. Lead out the KC planning for the second round to finesse against the QC in wests hand. The finesse succeeds so discard JD on the AC, cross ruff the remaining side suits.

Comment

If you take the club finesse you can make 11 tricks in 4H with only 23HCP and great distribution. If the finesse fails or you do not take it you will still make 10 tricks.

The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
