Open your preferred minor and when partner responds 1S, you cannot bid NoTrump possible for you as you have no stoppers in hearts and the opposition have overcalled hearts, rebid your diamonds.
Acol Bidding
Open your preferred minor and when partner responds 1S, you cannot bid NoTrump possible for you as you have no stoppers in hearts and the opposition have overcalled hearts, rebid your diamonds.
Plan Before You Play
Dummy goes down in a suit count your losing tricks. Spades:1, Hearts:0, Diamonds:1, Clubs:3, you should make this contract but think about how to make overtricks. Developing some spade winners as you are only missing the KS, looks like the best option, you have 8 clubs but too many losers to try to develop that suit.
The Play
Win the heart lead and lead trumps playing low from dummy west wins with the AD and leads back another heart, win and lead a spade up to the QS, it loses, but ruff the heart return. Draw trumps, after 3 rounds they are all out. Lead As and a low club, winning the last trick.
Comment
North/South can make either 1S, 2C, 2D or if south plays it (meaning South has to bid 3NT with a worthless doubleton) , 3NT. You can't make overtricks.
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
