Bidding

Open 1S (you could open 1NT as well). West makes a takeout double and North bids 2S. With no extra values to show, pass. All Pass

Acol Bidding

Open 1S West makes a takeout double and North bids 1NT. You could bid 2NT or you can rebid 2S. All Pass

Plan Before You Play

In 2S count your losers. Spades:1, Hearts:1, Diamonds:2, Clubs:1. With 5 losers you should make this contract. Good scores however come from overtricks, lets see if we can develop some.

The Play

KD lead, win with the AD and play 2 rounds of trumps leaving the JS to ruff in whenever he wants. Play 7H and lose to the AH and then again lose to the AC on the club return. Win the next club lead with the QC. Play a low heart to the QH, play KC discarding a diamond, play a low diamond losing to the QD cover the JH return with KH discarding the 10D lose to the JS for 9 tricks.

Comment

This deal can make 4H, or 3S or 2NT

The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
