Acol Bidding

Plan Before You Play
Dummy goes down and in a suit contract count your losing tricks. Spades:2 , Hearts:2 ,Diamonds:1 , Clubs:0 . You need to develop 2 more winning tricks. Diamonds seem to be the best suit to work on. You can finesse east for QD, if dimonds are spllit 3-2 the 4th diamond will be a winner
The Play
The opposition lead hearts and take the first 2 tricks, ruff the third heart and draw 3 rounds of trumps ending up in declarer's hand, finesse East for the QD, play the diamonds out discarding a low spade on the last diamond, lose to the AS and the rest of the tricks are yours.
Comment
You can take 3H light for 50 points, or you can make 4C and get 130 points.
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
