Bidding

Partner opens 1D, with 6 points and a 6 card spade suit bid 1S. Partner rebids 3D showing long suit and a strong hand (15+points), with 3 diamonds you bid 5 diamonds, game - allow 3 distributional points for the club singleton. All Pass

Acol Bidding

Partner opens 1D, with 6 points and a 6 card spade suit bid 1S. Partner rebids 3D showing long suit and a strong hand (15+points), In Acol, repeating your own suit means a 6 card suit and minimum points, so you bid 3S, partner bids 4S. All Pass

Plan Before You Play

If the contract is in Diamonds or Spades, count your losing tricks. Spades:1, Hearts:1, Diamonds:0, Clubs:1. To make the diamond contract you need to develop another winner.

Plan to finesse the KS for East, and avoid playing clubs if you can hoping your KC can develop into a winner.

The Play

In Diamonds you get AC lead, so your KC is now a winner. Finesse East for KS, 2 rounds of trumps, throw a losing heart on your KC, ruff a low club, play AS and ruff 3S, run your diamonds and lose the last heart.

In Spades, KH lead, duck the first round but win the QH with AH (allows you to make a heart ruff before drawing all the trumps). Lead a low spade and finesse East for KS, ruff 10H in dummy, play a low club east comes up with the AC and returns a low club which you ruff and draw 2 more rounds of spades starting with the AS, lose to KS and the rest of the tricks are yours.

Comment

5D makes easily, but you only receive 600 points.

4S makes if you play carefully but you get 620 points.

The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
