Plan Before You Play
In a suit contract count your losers . Spades:0, Hearts:1, Diamonds:1, Clubs:0. you should make this contract.
The Play
Duck the heart lead, and cover the heart return (trying to set up the 10H). Draw 2 rounds of trumps East shows out on the second round. enter your hand with the AD ruff the 10H ruff a low club in hand, while you still have trumps in hand take the diamond finesse (with the JD) lead out the KD and lead the 4D back to 9D. West ruffs and returns a club which you ruff in hand draw the last trump card and 8D is good.
Comment
Refresh the page and rebid up to to 7D, see if you can make it. HINT: you need to do a deep finesse of west for the QD and 10D, you need to assume west also has 4 spades and 4 hearts. To make 7D- Win the heart lead, finesse the QD to be in West's hand, Play 4 rounds of spades throwing the losing heart in dummy. ruff a low heart, ruff a club, ruff the last heart, ruff another club. Play KD and AD with the best spade remaining.
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
