East- dealer passes, with a six card major suit you open 1H, west overcalls 2D, your partner jump raises you to 3H (10-12 points), but you with minimum hand should not bid 4H as you only have maximum 22 HCP between you. All Pass

Plan Before You Play
In a suit count your losers. Spades:1 , Hearts: 1 , Diamonds: 1, Clubs:2 . Hmmm... 5 losing tricks. Reduce these by trying to drop the KH, ruff the remaining spades, then you should make 10 tricks.
The Play
Lose the AD lead, win the club switch. With only 3 trumps out, try to drop the KH by leading a low trump and going up with the AH, play QH drawing out the last trump card. Play the AS and then a low diamond to the KD, ruff a spade, then play a low club, dropping oppositions QC and KC (silly them). Ruff the diamond return and the rest of the tricks are yours. For 11 tricks.
Comment
If you pass in the first round of bidding your partner makes a takeout double 'X' and you are forced to reply, bidding your hearts. The defense give you a trick here by playing the KC and QC to the same trick. The opposition can make 1D or 2S, if they can bid it.
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
