Plan Before You Play
Count your winning tricks - 2 in spades 2 in hearts 3 in diamonds and 2 in clubs. your contract appears safe. your best suits (longest) are diamonds and hearts so try to develop these to get extra tricks. your chances for overtricks are best if West has the KH and East has the QC and JD. Lets check it out!
The Play
With a club lead try to make the JC into a winner by playing it on the opening lead, using the rule of eleven there's a good chance East has underlead the QC. Yes!. Now lead JH (a direct finesse)and only cover if West plays the KH. Play the KD then the 10D (a direct finesse) and cover whatever East plays. Then play your last diamond East wins but switches to a low heart, win with the QH and play your last heart now a winner. Play a low spade losing to the Ace and the last 4 tricks are yours.
Comment
Making 11 tricks. If you don't take the finesses in this game you end up making only 10 tricks. Winning at Bridge is all about getting every little point you can from the cards you hold.
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
