Acol Bidding

Plan Before You Play
In a suit contract count your losing tricks. Spades:1, Hearts:1, Diamonds:1, Clubs:1.You should make this contract. Optimise your tricks by leading low towards your honor cards.
The Play
A club lead play the ten low in hand and see if you can force West to play the Ace or Queen! A diamond lead forces you into dummy. Lead a low spade to the Ace then finesse the Jack of clubs, lead out the King of clubs and discard a losing diamond in declarer's hand, lead a low diamond and the defense win, lose the spade switch then finesse the trump King, drawing all the outstanding trumps.
Comment
In the post mortem, partner will probably say 'yes but with a 6 card spade suit you can bid 1S! why didn't you?' You can make at least 9 tricks in a heart contract.
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
