Acol Bidding
East opens the bidding with 1 diamond (1D) - you make a gambling overcall 2C - West bids 2D - Your partner bids 2S East bids 3D - All Pass
Plan Before You Play
You are making the opening lead because East was the first person to bid the diamond suit of the winning contract - Lead partner suit the 6S, declarer wins but when he leads out his KD you cover with the AD and lead the second spade in your hand. Partner wins with KS and leads the QS ruffed by declarer but you can over-ruff with your 8D. Lead the JH top of a sequence an attacking lead. Cover the club lead from declarer with JC. Lead the 10H, and then cover KC with AC.
The Play
Your partner bid spades so it's likely that the spade suit is your partnership's strongest suit holding. Lead that suit to make sure of any winners you may have are not able to be ruffed by the opposition later on in the game.
Comment
With good defensive plays like leading partners suit, you can take this contract light for 50 points your way. otherwise the opposition make 10 tricks for 130 points their way.
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
