Acol Bidding
Open 1H, partner bids 1S and you rebid 2H showing a 5 card suit and a minimum hand (less than 17 points) All Pass.
Plan Before You Play
Dummy goes down and you count your losers - 1 in spades - 1 in hearts 1 in diamonds and 2 in clubs - this contract is pretty safe maybe you can get an overtrick if you take the diamond finesse hoping that East has the QD. Remember to lead from low to high when drawing trumps.
The Play
Lose 2 club tricks and ruff the third round in hand. Draw trumps ducking the AH, Win the spade return with JS on the table and draw a second round of trumps. Play AS and then AD. Play a 3rd round of trumps, the KS, KD noticing that JD is now high, JD and 9H.
Comment
You can make 4H (10 tricks) with good declarer play even though you only have 23 points in the combined hands.
The above commentary is intended as a guideline only. As with any Bridge hand there are many ways to bid and play any hand.
